JPN W: Doubleheaders Deliver Split Results in SV.League Week 17

All fixtures of the 17th week in Japan’s women’s SV.League were completed over the weekend, with a mix of five-set contests and straight-set victories shaping the latest standings.

Saitama Ageo Medics and Astemo Rivale Ibaraki split their doubleheader. Ageo claimed Saturday’s match 3-2 (21-25, 25-19, 25-20, 18-25, 16-14), led by Fuyumi Hawi Okumu Oba’s 25 points. Astemo’s Mackenzie May scored a match-high 26 in the loss. On Sunday, Astemo secured a 3-0 win (25-23, 25-22, 25-20), with May and Miwako Osanai contributing 14 points each. Rina Yamaji led Ageo with 16.

Toray Arrows Shiga and Denso Airybees Koriyama also divided results. Toray won Saturday’s five-set match 3-2 (25-18, 25-19, 18-25, 21-25, 16-14), as Lucille Gicquel produced 30 points. Rosamaria Montibeller scored 28 for Denso. The visitors responded Sunday with a 3-0 victory (25-11, 25-15, 25-16), led by Haruna Yamashita’s 13 points.

PFU BlueCats Ishikawa Kahoku recorded two four-set wins on the road against Kurobe Aqua Fairies. Saturday ended 3-1 (25-20, 19-25, 25-23, 25-19), with Kisa Okuma and Rimi Kaneda sharing top-scoring honors on 20 points. PFU followed with another 3-1 result Sunday (23-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-17). Okuma delivered 22 points, while Kurobe captain Lena Stigrot finished with 23.

League leaders NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki earned consecutive straight-set road victories over Okayama Seagulls. Saturday’s match ended 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-23), with Giovanna Day scoring 20 points. NEC repeated the result Sunday, 3-0 (25-22, 27-25, 25-23), behind 24 points from Sylvia Nwakalor.

Second-placed Saga Hisamitsu Springs also collected two wins against Aranmare Yamagata. Saga swept Saturday’s match 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-11), with Stephanie Samedy scoring 14 points. Sunday concluded 3-1 (25-12, 20-25, 25-15, 25-11), as Samedy added 17, matching Aranmare’s Kaho Wakaizumi.
