The V.Premier League fined Panasonic Panthers, the overall regular season winners, with 1 million yen (nearly 7,600 euros) for violating the rules of the tournament.

Namely, the Panthers were sanctioned for not playing the game of the penultimate round in the first part of the season against Toray Arrows (0-3), held on January 27, with the strongest possible roster at the moment. Two Panthers’ best players in the in 2017/18, the Pole Michał Kubiak and Kunihiro Shimizu, were not signed up for the above-mentioned game so, the explanation of the League likely referred to their absence.

The club issued a note in which it apologized and claimed it will prevent this from happening again.
