Heungkuk Life Insurance Pulls Off Stunning Reverse Sweep, Inches from Unified Championship
Incheon Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders is now just one win away from clinching the unified championship after a dramatic comeback victory in the second match of the Dodram 2024-25 V-League Women’s playoff finals.
Facing Daejeon JungKwanJang Red Sparks at Samsan World Gymnasium, Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders overturned a two-set deficit to claim a thrilling 3-2 victory (23-25, 18-25, 25-22, 25-12, 15-12). With this win, they lead the best-of-five series 2-0, needing just one more to secure their first title since the 2018-19 season.
Veteran star Yeon-Koung Kim, in her final professional season, shined with 22 points and 2 blocks, while Tutku Burcu Yüzgenç delivered 24 points and 3 blocks. Their leadership fueled the team’s comeback and brought them within touching distance of championship glory.
Pink Spiders struggled early, dropping the first two sets due to strong performances from Daejeon JungKwanJang Red Sparks Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi and Vanja Bukilić. However, the tide turned in the third set as Yeon-Koung Kim led the charge, and Red Sparks errors mounted under pressure.
From there, Pink Spiders dominated the fourth set and held firm in the final set. The team capitalized on the home crowd’s energy and will now chase their first unified title in six seasons.
All eyes are now on Yeon-Koung Kim “Last Dance” — a potential storybook ending to a remarkable career.
