Although Daejeon Samsung Fire & Marine Bluefangs’ chances of claiming No.1 for the playoffs were already slim due to the fact their biggest rivals for this, the defending champs Cheonan Hyundai Capital Skywalkers, made a significant gap in the standings compared to them, these chances are now completely ruined.
The Bluefangs lost at home to Incheon Korean Air Jumbos by a 3-0 (25-20, 26-24, 25-15), three rounds before the end of the regular stage. And since the defending champions Skywalkers have one game less and 10 points more on their account (Skywalkers 22-10 record; 69 points vs. Bluefangs 21-12; 58 pts.), the battle for the top-seed and automatic berth for the playoff finals is over in favor of the titleholders.
The Slovenian opposite Mitja Gasparini topped Jumbos with 22 points. The Dutchman Thijs ter Horst scored 12 points for the Bluefangs.
At the same time, the Jumbos isolated themselves even more at No.3 (the ultimate playoff spot) with a 21-12 and 57 points. Their nearest followers, Uijeongbu KB Insurance Stars, have a 16-16 and 46 points, with one game less.
