Taylor Sander scored 23 for the Americans, while Joseph Sunder finished with 20. Daniel McDonnell scored 14 and William Price 10. Jesús Valdez registered 21 points for México, followed by Jorge Quiñones with 14. Tomas Aguilera tallied 12 and Daniel Vargas 11.
“It was a very fun and amazing match, I can’t say we lost. Mexico defeated us”, said United States coach Shawn Patchell.
“We have improved step by step. We worked on reception. We havent got anything yet, but it is a small but great step,” said Mexican coach Sergio Hernandez.
“We faced a very hostile crowd. There are some things to improve but I have one hundred percent faith in my teammates,” American captain Ryan Ammerman stated.
“It was a great victory for us. We had faced each other many times and those matches had been very tough, thanks to our fans for supporting us,” mentioned Jorge Quiñones.
The series between Mexico and USA is 3-1 still in favor of the Americans at the Pan Am Cup. For Sergio Hernández this was his second victory against an American team as part of the technical staff. More than a month ago, he was the second assistant of the U19 Unit that defeated USA, México at the Age Group World Championship in Mexicali, Mexico.
