PAC U23 W: Dominican girls will try to defend title against Peru

The Dominican Republic and the hosts Peru will play for the trophy of the Pan American Cup U23.

Dominican girls outplayed Cuba in the first semifinal match and will have the chance to defend the title in this category. Brayelin Elizabeth Martinez was in charge of guiding her team to victory by scoring 24 points, followed by Gaila Gonzalez Lopez and Jineiry Martinez with 13 points each. For Cuba, Diaris Pérez and Ailama Cese led with 17 and 13 points respectively.

Peru will play their first final after they defeated Mexico in the semifinal. Brenda Lobatón again led the Peruvian offense with 19 points, while Maricarmen Guerrero and Kiara Montes contributed 13 and 12 points. For Mexico, the most outstanding was Sofía Maldonado with 9 points.

Dominican Republic – Cuba 3-1 (22-25, 25-16, 25-13, 25-21)

Peru – Mexico 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-15)

Sunday, August 19

Final: Dominican Republic – Peru
