Brazil, USA, Peru, and Mexico Triumph on Second Day of Men’s Pan American Volleyball Cup

The second day of the XVI Men’s Pan American Volleyball Cup showcased victories for Brazil, USA, Peru, and hosts Mexico.

In Group C, Mexico displayed an impressive performance against Colombia, clinching a 3-0 victory (25-22, 25-19, 25-22). Diego González and Mauro Fuentes shone as Mexico’s top scorers, each tallying 12 points. On the Colombian side, Liberman Agamez secured 14 points.

Peru achieved a significant win in Group C by triumphing over defending champions Cuba in straight sets (25-20, 25-19, 25-19). This victory followed Cuba’s earlier loss to Colombia and Peru’s defeat against Mexico. The Peruvian captain, Eduardo Romay, led with 14 points, while Sebastián Blanco and Maikel Jaramillo contributed 8 points each. Yohan León stood out for Cuba with 12 points.

In Group B, Brazil dominated Canada, securing a 3-0 victory (25-16, 25-20, 25-21). The Brazilian team’s powerful attacks and serves, including 10 aces from Darlan Ferreira and Marcus Evangelista, propelled them to success. Both Marcus and Darlan closed with 12 points each, while Isaac Heslinga led Canada with 9 points. With this victory, Brazil secured first place in the pool and advanced undefeated to the next round.

In Group A, the United States secured their second win by defeating Chile 3-1 (25-14, 21-25, 25-12, 25-21) at the start of the second day. Parker Van Buren led the charge for the US with an impressive 21 points, including 19 from attacks, while Kyle McCauley contributed 13 points. Chile’s Tomas Parraguirre finished with 18 points, and Vicente Bonacic scored 12 points.

Chile, making their tournament debut, will now face Puerto Rico as they seek second place in Group A and a quarterfinals berth.
