The second seed Maaseik (16-2, 47 points in the regular season; 4-2, 13 points in Top 4) made a break in the 2018/19 EuroMillions Volley League playoff finals against the top seed Roeselare (15-3, 45 points in the regular season; 5-1, 13 points in Top 4). Maaseik, the reigning champions, beat the fiercest rivals in Game 1 by a 3-2 (21-25, 25-21, 25-21, 21-25, 20-18).
Jolan Cox top-scored for Maaseik with 25 points (four kill blocks) which was as much as Hendrik Tuerlinckx poured in on the other side.
The best-of-five series of the playoff finals will move to Maaseik’s home ground. One thing is sure, even after 25 years, Belgium will not get the Men’s titleholders other than one of these two teams.
