After beating CSM Târgoviște by a 3-1 (25-19, 20-25, 25-18, 25-22) in the national Cup final that was held in the city of Alexandria, CSM Volei Alba-Blaj put an icing on a cake in the 2018/19 season. For the second time in the club history, Alba clinched the “double crown”, the title (the fourth ever) and the cup of Romania. The previous time when they managed to do so, was two years ago. Knowing that Alba played the 2019 CEV Cup final (lost to the Italian side Unet E-Work Busto Arsizio), this year can be considered the most successful in the club history. As for the final match against Târgoviște, Ioana Baciu top-scored for Alba with 24 points, while Serbian Maja Aleksić made 5 kill blocks. In the losing side, Serbian Sara Klisura notched 26 points, while her compatriot Tanja Sredić set up 5 kill blocks.
A few days earlier, CS Dinamo București beat national championship winners CSM Arcada Galaţi by a 3-1 (26-28, 25-20, 25-18, 26-24) in the Men’s final that was also held in Alexandria. Thus, the team from the Romanian capital won the trophy in the national Cup for the second time ever (the first time was in 2011). The Lithuanian opposite hitter Arvydas Mišeikis was the best scorer for Dinamo with 17 points. Croatian Ivan Raić scored 14 points for Arcada.
