The FIVB announced that its Disciplinary Panel has ruled that Facundo Conte, Federico Pereyra and Pablo Crer, members of Argentina National Team, violated the disciplinary regulations of the governing body of the world Volleyball at the 2019 International Olympic Qualifier in Ningbo, China, on August 11. They were all suspended for imitating the shape of the Asian eyes.
Pereyra and Crer have been suspended for three matches, while Conte got a reduced ban of two matches because he immediately apologized on his social media account after making a gesture. All three players will serve their suspensions at the 2019 South American Championship that has begun yesterday. The FIVB also fined Argentine Volleyball Federation (FeVA) with 15,000 CHF.
Recall that the assistant coach of Russian Women was suspended for the same reason.
