Lokomotiv first edged TOURS VB 3:1 (25-18, 25-16, 17-25, and 30-28) and then stretched that momentum to the golden set (15-6) to play in the semis Turkey’s Halkbank ANKARA.
The start of the match was extremely encouraging for the home side (16:8, 18:10) especially as Mykola Rudnitskyi and Ian Iereshchenko were performing extremely well from the serving line. On top of this, Lokomotiv team captain Sergey Tyutlin did an excellent job in attack and KHARKIV could pocket the opening set quite comfortably with the score of 25-18. Things did not change in the second set where Lokomotiv confidently cruised to a speedy 25-16 before TOURS VB fought their way back in set 3 (17-25). However, that was just a flame as the Ukrainians displayed some great play in defense to eventually claim a 3:1 win. The golden set was literally one-sided with Lokomotiv dominating the scene from the start up to the end (15-6) to make it to the semis of the CEV Cup. “This was a good game and I would like to thank all the fans who came tonight to the sports hall and supported us” said Lokomotiv head coach Yury Filippov. “My players showed what they are capable of and we really look forward to the next round”.
