Last season, in order to prepare for the Tokyo Olympics, Zhu returned to China from the Turkish league and joined Tianjin with which she won the Super League and was named MVP. In order to ensure the health and proper training of the biggest star of the Asian volleyball, the China National Team even sent its own fitness trainer and team doctor to Tianjin.
During the coronavirus pandemic that stopped volleyball for more than half a year, China Women were conducting closed training sessions after which most of the players have participated in the Super League pre-season, but not Zhu. She was sidelined because of a wrist injury.
Now, after the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics until next year, in order to better prepare for the event, Zhu Ting and the national team coaching staff decided it was best for her to stay in Tianjin and compete in their jersey in 2020/21.
