Although the top eight for the playoffs (third stage) of the 2020/21 Chinese Women’s Super League was determined in the penultimate round of the second stage, what hasn’t been determined was the order of the teams in it.
The titleholders Tianjin secured No.1 prior to the last round (finished regular season with 10 wins in a row), while Shanghai (Zhong Hui 29 points) claimed No.2, with the fifth successive win, in front of Jiangsu who missed a huge opportunity to claim it given they fell (3-0) to a team that lost all chances for the playoffs – Fujian (Huang Feng 20 points, Zheng Yixin 7 blocks).
Guangdong suffered a 3-1 defeat to Shandong (Sun Jie 22 points) and gave away No.4 to Liaoning. At the same time, Shandong secured No.6.
Beijing (Ren Kaiyi 20 points, Xue Yizhi 5 blocks) swept Zhejiang (3-0) but it didn’t improve their position in the charts exactly because of Shandong’s victory so the team from the country’s capital will enter playoffs as the seventh seed, while the side they beat today earned the eighth seed.
