The controversy over the violence of current professional South Korean volleyball players against their peers while they attended high school has taken on new dimensions...

Following the scandal in women’s volleyball in Korea in which the famous twin sisters Lee were accused of abusing peers – which they admitted and got suspended both from their club and the national team – in high school, a similar scandal is shaking men’s volleyball in the country.

A volleyball player, whose identity isn’t known at this point, posted online an accusation against Song Myung-Geun and Sim Gyeong-Seop, both outside hitters in the V-League side Ansan OK Financial Group OKman. The victim wrote that, 10 years ago, Song (a standard member of the Korea National Team) and Sim harassed him in the way that they hurt his testicles so badly that he had to be admitted to the emergency room and undergo surgery.

After learning about the accusations, both Song and Sim admitted they abused the victim, apologized to him in written form, and offered to pay medical bills, but the victim refused it saying that the two players didn’t even have the decency to apologize to him over the phone.

OKman, who also wrote an apology to the victim, didn’t suspend Song and Sim as Pink Spiders did with the Lee sisters. The Korean federation (KVA) is silent for now but they also didn’t react immediately in the case of the Lee sisters, making a decision a few days later.
