Argentina vs Puerto Rico

Argentina vs Puerto Rico 3-1 (18-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-18)

“We fell in a lot of mistakes, we had a bad reception. We are living a change in our team; we are working on the restructuration. We are a new team, but have to keep working on our team performance,” said Puerto Rican captain Muniz.

“This was a match with a lot of mistakes for us, we went on four sets, we need to concentrate in our next rival”, said David Aleman, coach of Puerto Rico.

Argentina’s captain Juan Ignacio Finolli remarked: “This was a nice win, because in the beginning we went out with some nerves, we are a very young team and faced a senior one, but in the end we corrected our mistakes.”

Head coach Alejandro Grossi commented: “To start with a victory is always important, you prepare to win, we improved in some situations, and did not rotate well as Puerto Rico did, but fortunately we made a difference in our transition”.

USA vs Trinidad and Tobago 3-0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-20)

“Congratulations to USA, they are the defending champions of the Pan Am Cup. We tried to react and improved a little bit from our last night performance,” said Trinidad’s coach Dickson.

“I feel we played a more decent game, but had too many unforced errors,” remarked Captain Nolan Tash.

“We are happy to win. Trinidad played hard on the third set, but we have acclimated to the city’s altitude,” USA captain Ryan Ammerman said.

“Third set was tied, but Michael passed some balls and that helped us to improve. We put pressure on the service and this was a good match for us,” stated Coach Shawn Patchell, who will face Mexico on Wednesday.

Mexico vs Dominican Republic 3-1 (18-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-23)

“We saw a very happy Mexican team, this kind of matches are always tough and tight, they showed what they could do, were better on the court, but we now have to move on”, said Jose Miguel Caceres.

“We could not accomplish our goals and our guys were not as strong as our rivals. We also showed a weak defense,” said Osiel Vazquez, coach of Dominican Republic.

“The balance was in our favor tonight. We faced an excellent team and now we have to think about our next rival,” said Mexican coach Sergio Hernandez.

“We are glad for the result and we will look to go forward, and be ready against USA,” Mexican captain Jorge Quiñones stated.
