ANCH W: Kenya and Cameroon record third win as Tunisia top African classic

Host and 7 time African champions Kenya claimed their third victory in row against 2011 runner up Algeria 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-13), while Cameroon marked also third win against Senegal in the third day of the 2013 Women's African nations Championship held at Kasarani Moi International Sports Center in Nairobi, Kenya on Monday.

The exciting day featured also a valuable victory for Tunisia over Egypt 3-0 (25-21, 28-26. 25-18) in another classic North African derby

At the end of the competition third day Kenya led the standings by 9 points from win- loss ratio of 3-0 and remained as they only team who didn’t drop a set, followed by Cameroon 7 points from three victory. Both Kenya and Cameroon are the only unbeaten teams in the tournament till now.  Tunisia comes third with 6 points (2-1), Senegal fourth with 3 points (1-2) ahead of both Egypt and Algeria 1 point (both 0-3).

Today is a rest day for all the participating teams before the competition resume on Wednesday or the fourth day of the round robin tournament.

Cameroon vs Senegal 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-21)

Cameroon continued their winning rhythm as they took over Senegal 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-21) in their third match lasting 73 minutes. Outstanding spiker Nana Tchoudjang hammered the Senegalese with 19 points to finish as the match and her team scorer followed by Bassoko Moma 11 points. Binetou Sow was Senegal’s best scorer with 11 points followed by Sokhna Gueye 10 points.

Tunisia vs Egypt 3-0 (25-21, 28-26. 25-18)

Tunisia claimed a valuable victory against their rivals Egypt 3-0 (25-21, 28-26. 25-18) in a classic North African clash, lasting 82 minutes. Outside hitters Nihel Ghoul and Kaouthar Jemall were Tunisia’s best scorers with 13 points each, while Aya Elshamy and Nirmeen Seifelnasr contributed 9 points each for their team as best scorers.

Kenya vs Algeria  3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-13)

Kenya flew past Algeria  3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-13) in a repeat of 2011 edition final to stay as the only team who didn’t conceded a set in the tournament so far. Kenya’s outside spiker Mercy Moim and center Bracksides Khadambi claimed 13 points for their team as best scorer, while Algeria’s Mouni Abderrahim was her team scorer with 7 points.
