After that interim period, the club was finally able to announce the name of the coach that will be mentoring the team for the remainder of the season. It is Dragutin Baltić, who last year worked with Volero and is already back in Zurich. The situation is quite similar to 12 months ago where Baltić had to take the leadership of the team after the start of the season following on the move by former mentor Svetlana Ilić to Dinamo MOSCOW.
Baltić will have to achieve the goals set for this season, and namely to retain the title in the national league and made the Playoffs of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League.
The 49-year old Baltić arrived in Zurich on and was immediately introduced to the players.
“Baltic had to take care of his health during the summer and could make it to Zurich only after completing his recovery. He is now ready to get back into the business” says Volero President Stav Jacobi. “After a short analysis of the situation Baltic confirmed he is ready to take on this challenge and to bring the team back on track” he continues.
Jan Lindenmair will be supporting Baltić thereby exploiting the experience and know-how accumulated in the last few weeks.
“Lindenmair did a great job in this difficult period and I can start working on the good foundations laid by Jan” said the Slovenian-born head coach. “I know that we are in a quite difficult position after two defeats in the CEV Volleyball Champions League but I trust our players as well as their spirit. My goal is to make sure Volero reaches the Playoffs and wins the national league once more” Baltić commented.
