The 17-year-old outside hitter, who stands at 2.00 cm, was the best spiker (47.03) and third best scorer (106 points) at the FIVB U23 World Championship in Mexico and led all the scorers (167) at the FIVB U20 World Championship at Czech Republic.
“I am very proud about this election by the sport writers and commentators from my country and I will use it as a reason to continue working even harder,” Martinez said. “I dedicate this award to my coaches who have helped me so much and also to all my teammates.”
“Our program continues to produce players who contribute to the evolution of our senior national team,” he said. “Brayelin is a good example of it and there are many more talented players coming up from the lower age-levels.”
