Altay swept the series of the playoff finals of the 2021/22 Women’s National League (Национальная лига) against Zhetysu in Taldykorgan 2-0 to defend the championship title. This was the 4th consecutive battle for the trophy between these two sides, 3 of which ended in favor of Altay.

After the last year’s final, Zhetysu replaced the Turkish head coach Burhan Şaik Canpolat with Yelena Pavlova, the Kazakh legendary former player, but they again succumbed to the team from Ust-Kamenogorsk, who became a 6-time national champion, being 2 titles behind joint record-holders Zhetysu and Rakhat Alma-Ata.
