Several top Ukrainian volleyball clubs, men’s and women’s, will compete in foreign leagues next season due to the war in their country.
President of the Ukrainian Volleyball Federation (FVU) Mikhail Melnik told the media in the country which clubs will play in foreign championships next season.
The women’s titleholders SK Prometey will compete in Extraliga, the elite division of the Czech Republic. Men’s champions Epitsentr-Podolyany are to enter the Polish second division, I Liga. VK Barkom-Kazhany, the vice-champions will also play in Poland but in the topflight, PlusLiga, with which they’ve signed a cooperation agreement last October. However, in the case of Prometey, their move is more certain than Barkom’s and Epitsentr’s. It’s even known where Prometey will be stationed in the Czech Republic – in the city of Kutná Hora.
In May, the FVU officially made the decision to end the season early due to the Russian invasion of the country.
