Japan’s NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki triumphed at the 2024 Asian Women’s Club Championship with a dominant straight-set victory over Vietnam’s LPBank Ninh Binh. The match, held on Sunday at Chartchai Hall, saw the Red Rockets secure the title with a 3-0 win (25-16, 25-15, 25-17). This marks the second championship for the team, their first being in 2016 in Manila.
Lorrayna Da Silva led the charge for NEC, contributing 18 points, the highest of the match. The team started strong, building an early 8-0 lead in the first set, leaving LPBank Ninh Binh struggling to regain momentum. Despite efforts led by captain Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, the Vietnamese team could not find their rhythm, hindered by NEC’s solid defense and strategic blocking.
In the bronze medal match, hosts Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC defeated Kazakhstan’s Kuanysh VC in straight sets (25-22, 25-18, 25-21), adding to their silver medal finish from 2021. Onuma Sittirak led the Thai side with 15 points, securing their third-place finish.
Yoshino Sato was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, joining teammates Shiori Tsukada, Haruyo Shimamura, and Sayaka Daikuzono in the Dream Team, which recognized top performers from across the competition.
