Zhao Yong, a former player of China’s national men’s volleyball team, has been officially named the head coach of the Chinese national women’s volleyball squad. The appointment comes with a clear mission—securing a podium finish at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Zhao has previously coached the Liaoning women’s team and led China’s university team to gold at the 2023 Chengdu Universiade. Most recently, he guided the U17 squad to world championship glory in 2024.
With a fifth-place finish at Paris 2024, the focus now shifts to LA28, where hopes are high under Zhao’s guidance.
