Italian coach Marcello Abbondanza is reportedly the frontrunner to take charge of the Bulgarian women’s national team.

The Bulgarian Volleyball Federation is expected to make its final decision soon on who will succeed Antonina Zetova. Abbondanza is no stranger to Bulgarian volleyball — he previously coached the national team between 2011 and 2014 and currently manages Fenerbahçe in Turkey, having recently guided the club to a Super Cup victory. Previously Abbondanza also coached the national teams of Canada and Greece, as well as several top clubs across Europe.
He is being considered alongside Ivan Petkov and Radoslav Arsov, but his international experience and previous work with Bulgaria make him a leading candidate.
