When we wrote “survival” in the headline, we did not mean only on relegation…

New volleyball season in Bulgaria starts today, but many clubs have barely managed to secure participation. And not just any clubs, but some of the most famous in the country.

Levski, the Cup winner from the last season has announced only recently that it will be able to play in the Championship. Blues are in big financial problems, and new coach Shopov stated that his team can hardly be called men, as all the players are still just boys.

The similar situation is in CVC Gabrovo, which is also passing through major financial crisis, and it almost had to cancel the participation both in the Bulgarian Championship and in the CEV Cup.

Also, another giant from the capital is barely surviving in the volleyball world. CSKA Sofia did not have so many changes in the roster as two previous mentioned clubs, but its biggest goal in the upcoming season is to “keep the club running”.

The main contender for the trophy is once again Marek Union Dupnica, which will also represent Bulgarian in the Champions League.
