“Me and another player (Yoandri Diaz) were suspended from playing for the national team, so I am not sure what is our future there. But, I’m ready to play for Cuba and I really want to play on the Olympic Games in Rio. Olympic medal is one of my main goals in life. I hope I will be back in the national team, and that we will win a medal in Brazil” said Leon.

In 2013 player got a two-year suspension from the FIVB because he refused to return to Cuba and join preparations of the National Team. In May 2014, FIVB reduced the fine on one year, so Leon was able to join Zenit during the last summer.

Don’t forget that Turkey and Poland also wanted to attract Leon to play for their National Teams…
