EG M: Poland and Germany claim top spots for quarterfinal

The final round of group stage at 1st European Games in Baku started with a convincing straight/set win from Poland over Finland -3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-10).

Polish team presented very efficient display that has taken it to a superior lead in the standings of Pool A without suffering a single loss before quarter-final clashes.

Dawid Konarski was the top scorer in Poland with 15 points. Toni Kankaanpää had 10 in Finland which was eliminated from the tournament even before Round 5.

A two clear wins resolved the situation in Pool B.

The action was initiated with an offensive demonstration from Germany against Belgium 3-0 (25-22, 25-11, 25-21).

Germany was led to the top spot in the pool by Christian Fromm (17 points). Jolan Cox collected 10 in Belgium.

Bulgaria followed in the footsteps of Germany and downed Slovakia in straight sets to claim position number two on the table of the pool with 14 from Todor Aleksiev3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-19). Radoslav Prešinský had 6 points in Slovakia which took 4th place in the standings.
