Japan – Italy
A deserved success of Italians in Pool E (Group 1) in Saitama was achieved after comeback since they found themselves trailing 2-1 in sets against the opponent which always fights excessively, but this time insufficiently.
This was the third consecutive win of Italy in the Preliminary Round of the competition while the hosts suffered second loss in a row .
Lucia Bosetti scored 19 points in Italy. Sarina Koga had 28 in Japenese team.
Another tiebreaker of the day occured in Pool M (Group 2) in the clash between the winning team of Puerto Rico and Czech Republic with 33 from Karina Ocasio!
