That journey started in Mexico last month and got done on Final Four in Canberra (Australia) were Kenya firstly defeated the hosts 3-1 (18-25, 25-16, 25-20, 25-14) in the semis to book a duel with Peru in the finals.
Peru took the first set, but Kenya won the second to level things up.
In the third set, it was a fight for every point until 20 all, when Kenya defended its service four consecutive times and made a decisive run for 2-1.
Kenya had 23-20 in the fourth set, but South Americans crawled back to 23-22. Kenya eventually broke Peru’s service to win the match – 25-23.
Mercy Moim finished the game with 22 points for Kenya, while Ángela Leyva had 26 in Peru.
In the match for the bronze medal, Colombia defeated Australia by 3-0 (25-12, 25-22, 25-16) to stay in Group 3.
