What an opening for the hosts! Japan swept Argentina in their first 2015 World Cup match in straight sets 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-12), in Tokyo.

It was a cat-and-mouse game in which Japanese receiver/outside hitter Sarina Koga stood out with 14 points, respectively. Miyu Nagaoka and Saori Kimura added 13 each for the home side.

Argentina was competitive only in the second set, reaching Japanese gap and equalizing to 11-all after trailing 10-7, but it was all good from the South Americans.

Leticia Boscacci and Sol Piccolo had both seven points in Argentina as the most efficient players.

Peru outplayed Algeria in Matsumoto and gained a clear victory 3-0 (26-16, 25-13, 25-16) to start the competition successfully.
