Yoshie Takeshita, Player of Japan: We felt bad after (being beaten by) Italy, but we concentrated more and played better as a team. The Games happen once every four years. We are training to target a medal, which we hope to do.

Prisilla Rivera, Player of Dominican Republic: “Unfortunately we made a few errors and a few of our digs were not well done. Some of our spikes were also off. After that we adjusted, but Japan defended very well. Everything needs to be improved quickly as we play on Friday (against Great Britain). I don’t think there will be time to sleep at all.”

Brenda Castillo, Player of Dominican Republic: “I think the difference today was in the attack. We didn’t use our middle offence as often as we must, because we are very predictable and it allows the opponent’s defence to adjust easily.”
