France, Italy, Australia and Belgium will start their FIVB Volleyball World League 2016 campaign with a mini-tournament marked as Pool A, that will be held in Sydney, Australia.
France are the reigning champions of the FIVB World League. Les Bleus won the 2015 edition by defeating Serbia in the final and it was their very first time to clinch the gold medal in this competition. Later that year they also won the gold at the European Championship, while a month ago they made another big achievement by winning a ticket for the Olympic Games 2016! Having all that in mind, France are without any doubt one of the top favorites in the FIVB World League 2016.

Italy is the second most successful nation in the FIVB World League! Azzurri have won 8 gold medals, 3 silvers and 4 bronze medals so far, but the last time they finished at the 1st place in this competition was 16 years ago! Still, Italy have once again formed a very strong roster that has qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio, so they will be a serious pretender to the throne in the FIVB World League 2016.

Australia qualified for the Group 1 of the FIVB World League back in 2014 when they shocked France by defeating them in the Group 2 Finals. Last year, they finished at the 7th place in the FIVB World League, which was their best score ever in this competition. Australia haven’t made it to the Olympics 2016, so they will put the entire focus to the World League campaign.

Belgium debuted in the FIVB World League in 2014, while they also participated in the 2015 edition. In both occasions they were placed in Group 2, so this will be the first time ever for Belgium to play in the elite Group 1.
