Although France went to Sydney, Australia for the first weekend of Group 1 – Pool A without their main weapon Earvin Ngapeth, they were superior in the match against Italy.
It did not matter Ngapeth was absent because there were some attractive moves by French players, like this one from Nicolas Maréchal. He absolutely perfectly hid he will lob Italy’s block. A jingle that was played in the gym right after the point described it in the best possible way – „Can’t touch this“.
