NORCECA W: Argentina’s serves keyed victory over Cuba

Argentina overcame a one-set deficit to defeat Cuba in four sets (22-25, 27-25, 25-14, 25-15) in Pool A of the Women’s U-23 Pan American Cup on Monday.

Lucia Fresco and Maria Calvete charted 23 and 19 points respectively as the top offensive weapons for Argentina while Tanya Acosta added 13. Calvete totaled seven blocks while Fresco scored four aces.

Yoana Palacio led Cuba with 19 points followed by Alena Rojas and Sulian Matienzo with 15 and 12 respectively.

Both teams had 11 blocks while Argentina held a 12-7 margin in service winners.
