China were caught napping by Chinese Taipei as the latter entered the first technical timeout with a 16-14 advantage.
Chinese Taipei captain Chen Wan-Ting led the team’s surge. China held their ground and made a reversal of the situation to close the first set in their favour at 25-20.
The second set saw Chinese Taipei struggling due to their apprehension on their movement. Xu Yunli and Hui Ruoqi led China’s outpouring of attacks that silenced the Chinese Taipei defence. A huge cushion was established and Chinese Taipei could not do anything but settle for the 25-8 score.
Both squads never gave an inch to launch an up-rise – keeping the lead to a minimum. Chinese Taipei poured in everything to level the match and stay alive for another set but China’s two attack hits rewarded them set and match at 27-25.
As Chinese Taipei captain Chen led all scorers with 21 points, China’s balanced offense reigned with Xu Yunli, Hui Ruoqi, Zeng Chunlei and Chu Jinling scoring in double figures.
