Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa’s tremendous scoring binge had set the tone for Vietnam to steal the limelight from Korea after the latter’s 2-1 advantage entering the fourth set. The pivotal fourth set was mainly played well by both squads until Korea committed a blunder that favoured Vietnam and a heavy spike by Nguyen that extended the match.

Nguyen’s eminent spikes and solid blocking techniques shaped the hostile takeover that was going to take place in the deciding set.

The final set was a display of powerful attack combinations and exchange of blows from both teams. But Vietnam got the better of their opponent through better cohesion towards the end of the set – scoring intently to reach the final point of the match.

The Vietnamese endured the tough competition and will be playing in their first AVC Cup for Women semifinal.
