There were no upsets in the second round of the 2017 CEV Women’s Volleyball Champions League after second leg but some of the favorites had to work hard to advance to the next stage.

Eczacıbaşı İstanbul from Turkey (Serbian Tijana Bošković 16 pts.) achieved another straight-set win over Bulgarian champions Maritza Plovdiv (Radosveta Teneva 10 pts.) while Polish Dąbrowa Górnicza (Czech Helena Horká 16 pts.) was even more persuasive in the second leg against Israeli representative Maccabi Haifa (Ukrainian Hanna Kyrychenko 14 pts.) 3-0 (3-1 in 1st leg).

French vice champions RC Cannes, led by Ukrainian Nadiia Kodola and Bulgarian Gergana Dimitrova (15 pts. each), easily eliminated Bosnian Jedinstvo Brčko in which Dijana Vasić scored 10 points (3-1).

Italian Liu Jo Nordmeccanica Modena relegated Slovenian Calcit Kamnik (3-0), while Serbian title holders Vizura Belgrade swept Estonian Kohila in second leg 3-0 (3-2 first leg).

Russian Dinamo Krasnodar barely eliminated Khimik Yuzhny from Ukraine (double 3-2 victory). Czech powerhouse Agel Prostějov lost at home to Békéscsabai 3-2 but only after winning first two sets which secured them third round.

The most drama was seen in Finland where the hosts HPK Hämeenlinna won 3-0 and leveled with Minchanka Minsk from Belarus (0-3 in 1st leg). Thus, the golden set had to decide and Hämeenlinna prevailed in it. Piia Korhonen had a good performance in the winning team with 15 points. Katsiaryna Silantsyeva had 12 in Minchanka.

I am confused. Vakifbank and Fenerbahce are not playing for the CEV CL this year?

Vakifbank and Fenerbahce already qualified to the league round. The matches above are from the qualification tournament only.
