Zamalek who qualified to the Club World Championship for the second time after the first one in 2009 suffered financial problems since the local league was stopped early last February following the football Disaster in Port Said that featured 74 died spectators and thus the players didn’t get their salaries.

The players asked to meet the Club president Mamdouh Abbas to solve their financial dues to return back to the training but he asked them to return back to the training before discussing the problems.

The Egyptian club participated in the World Championship 2009 where they finished fifth before they qualified this year for the second time after they won African Club Championship in Tunisia last April.

Eight teams will battle it out at the 2012 FIVB Men’s Volleyball Club World Championship divided into two pools of four. Three-time defending champion Trentino Diatec will have a heavy weight on their shoulders as they seek to continue Italy’s dominance of the tournament. An Italian team has won every men’s competition so far.
