On Monday the side from the shores of the Black Sea edged Stiinta Explorari BAIA MARE 3:1 (25-21, 22-25, 25-18, and 25-21) to claim back the leadership in the standings of the national league with 18 points, with Unirea DEJ and BAIA MARE completing the top three with 17 and 15 respectively.
Tomis got three valuable points from this game anchored by Marko Bojic who scored 25 points all alone, well supported by Dan Borota and Milos Terzic with 13 apiece. Bojic (pictured) replaced Olli-Pekka Ojansivu in the starting six as the opposite player from Finland has decided to leave Tomis. Tomis CONSTANTA and Stiinta Explorari BAIA MARE will cross their ways once more this coming Wednesday as they fight for a spot to make it to the final four of the national cup. Tomis edged their opponents in Constanta in the first leg with a speedy 3:0 (25-20, 25-16, and 25-12) and hence needs just one more set to advance to the last stage of the competition.
“It was a difficult and very important game as Stiinta Explorari BAIA MARE was still unbeaten. We started well a very important week for our club. I am pleased with the reaction my players showed after losing the second set, as they really controlled the game up to the end” says Tomis head coach Radovan Gacic.
On Saturday, December 1, Tomis will play Unirea DEJ for another battle where the first place in the national league will be at stake.
