VERVA Warszawa ORLEN Paliwa defeated Cuprum Lubin in an advanced match of Round 12 of the 2019/20 PlusLiga regular season to finish 2019 as the leaders in the charts. The team from the Polish capital has played one match more than the vice-leaders and also the champions Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle. Both have 33 points.

Warszawa head coach Andrea Anastasi gave the world champion Piotr Nowakowski a day off but his team didn’t have too many difficulties to surpass rivals today: 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-23). The Frenchman Kévin Tillie top-scored for the winnings side with 9 points. Jakub Ziobrowski delivered 10 points for Cuprum.

Warszawa recorded as many as 12 wins and suffered only one defeat so far. Considering all the turmoil around the club before the start of the season, it must be admitted they finished the first half of the regular season impressively.
