POL M: Jastrzębski take advantage of Skra’s problems with injured players and win derby

Jastrzębski Węgiel surprisingly easy prevailed in a derby of Round 21 of the 2019/20 Polish Men’s Volleyball Championship regular season against PGE Skra Bełchatów.

The calendar of the 2019/20 PlusLiga regular season was against Skra in the last nine days. They had to play against the other three teams that form a leading quartet with them in the charts, one after the other. The Bełchatów side ended the hellish rhythm of games with one win and two defeats. Skra wanted to redeem for their recent failure against VERVA Warszawa ORLEN Paliwa (lost by a 3-1, three days ago), while Jastrzębski wanted to end a little series of defeats consisting of two games.

Skra were heavily weakened in today’s match as two starting outside hitters couldn’t play due to injuries – Artur Szalpuk and Iranian Milad Ebadipour. On the other hand, the Frenchman Julien Lyneel is still unable to play for Jastrzębski. With a 3-0 victory (25-22, 25-23, 25-19), the team from Jastrzębie Zdrój (fourth-placed) prevailed over Skra for to fifth consecutive time in the league and is only three points behind them in the charts.

Dawid Konarski highlighted for the winning side with 20 points. Serbian Milan Katić scored 11 points for Skra.
