In a rather strange match in Germany, Zenit took the lead in sets of 2-0, trailed by 7 points in the third and the fourth set, but pushed both of these periods into overtime before being confident in the tie-break: 25-20, 25-22, 23-25, 23-25, 15-11. Zenit’s main weapon this season is the block. They are the first in the rankings of the Russian Championship in this segment. AlpenVolley players felt it on their skin as they were stopped on the net on 14 occasions.

The German international György Grozer top-scored for Zenit with 22 points. The Frenchman Jérôme Clère tallied 20 for the losing side.
