In China, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak that has started at the beginning of January, the players of the women’s volleyball team are in rigid isolation in the preparations for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

To maintain the safety of the reigning Olympic champions, the CVA has followed protocols issued by the Chinese Olympic Committee (COC). Sixteen athletes at a grouping in the Beijing Training Center are, practically, isolated from the rest of the population. The CVA controls who enters and leaves the facility. Only one training venue is opened. The visit from the outside is extremely limited.

According to the COC, the medical staff pays attention to the physical condition of each team member, conducting strict prevention by measuring the body temperature of the athletes twice a day. Disinfection of the training equipment and players after each practice is mandatory, and the central air-conditioning in the space where the team members live is turned off. In terms of a diet, the intake of fruits and vegetables is increased to enhance team members’ immunity.

The head coach Lang Ping instructed players to use this time of being in quarantine to strengthen their physical condition.
