Samara Almeida signed a contract with Grupa Azoty Chemik Police until the end of the season. She’s 28 years old and covers the outside hitter position.
Samara had quite a successful career on a club level so far, winning championships in Brazil, Romania (in addition, Cup and Super Cup), and Switzerland, as well as the FIVB Club World Championship and South American Club Championship (three times). She made her debut with the senior Brazil National Team in 2012 but hasn’t been summoned too many times after that. In base categories, Samara was named MVP of the 2009 FIVB U18 World Championship, won by her national team.
Last season, she competed for Italy’s Zanetti Bergamo, while she started an ongoing season with São Paulo FC/ Barueri, in her home country. Samara was hired to fill the gap created by the injury of Cuban Wilma Salas.
