The regular season winners Developres prevailed in the first final match of the 2020/21 Polish Women’s TAURON Liga playoffs against the reigning champions and 3rd-seed Chemik, which lasted for 2 hours and 37 minutes: 3-2 (25-20, 29-31, 22-25, 25-22, 15-13). Thus, the Rzeszów club took the lead in the series (up to 3 wins) of 1-0.

The match was marked with a lot of emotions of players on both sides and video checks. One of those, at the beginning of the 3rd set, lasted for so long that players had to start warming up again, along with the umpire who joined them on the court. The block of both teams functioned very well. Developres’ Zuzanna Efimienko-Młotkowska stood out in this element the most, scoring 8 points on the net. On the opposing side, Agnieszka Kąkolewska set up 5 blocks.

Canadian Kiera Van Ryk top-scored Developres with 23 points, while Serbian Jovana Brakočević-Canzian poured in 32 points out of, as many as, 76 attacks. Game 2 is scheduled 3 days from now.
