Most of the girls included on the national team are stemming from the team SMS SOSNOWIEC, where the country’s most promising Volleyball talents are on a sort of permanent training camp. Poland will be starting their European adventure on March 30 by playing Slovenia, with the game following two very intensive weeks of preparation in Szczyrk. “We have trained twice a day by working on the technique in the morning and devoting most of our time to playing and working out the right tactics in the afternoon sessions” wing-spiker Karolina Pisla says.
Poland beat France 3:2 twice and these matches were a valuable test for the group that was assigned by the DOL to preliminary Pool I which includes – apart from Slovenia – also the hosts of Montenegro, the Czech Republic, Greece and Italy. “The matches we played in Szczyrk helped us finalize our preparations for the start of the European Championship. The atmosphere in the group is just great and we feel the right team spirit. We all know that only via hard work we can achieve the results we are dreaming of” Pisla concludes.
Poland’s team for the 2013 CEV Youth Volleyball European Championship – Girls includes the following players: setters Paulina Baldyga and Karolina Szczygiel; opposites Justyna Antosiewicz and Malwina Smarzek; middle-blockers Kornelia Moskwa, Malgorzata Smieszek and Aleksandra Wanczyk; wing-spikers Aleksandra Kazala, Magdalena Damaske, Karolina Pisla and Klaudia Grzelak; libero Pola Nowakowska.
