One of the best and most recognizable male volleyball players in the world, Wilfredo León, was operated on and is now conducting rehabilitation in Poland.
The Polish star of Cuban origin, León, is currently in Poland where he’s about to begin rehabilitation after knee surgery performed in Malmö, Sweden. Polish fans are eager to learn whether or not will an outside hitter be ready for the most important competition in the volleyball calendar this year – the FIVB World Championship. The expected recovery time after the member of Italy’s Sir Safety Conad Perugia underwent surgery of this type (the diagnosis was patellar tendinopathy) is 11 weeks. This means that León won’t be able to participate in the World Champs, which will start at the end of August:
“I hope that I’ll be able to do it faster, although I don’t intend to accelerate anything by force. I think in 3 weeks I’ll be able to define it. Either I’ll announce to the fans that I can easily make it to the World Championship, or I’ll admit that I won’t be able to do it. Of course, I’d prefer to pass this first message on to the fans. At the moment I estimate my chances of playing (the World Championship) are 50-50,” León said to SportoweFakty.
