The President of the Polish Volleyball Federation (PZPS), Sebastian Świderski, spoke about the possibility of Wilfredo León’s participation at the 2022 FIVB World Championship.

It’s not news that León may miss the upcoming World Championship. One of the best volleyball players in the world and the Poland National Team underwent knee surgery, which, according to specialists, couldn’t wait any longer, in June. The player himself admitted back then that chances of him playing the event in late August are slim. The PZPS president Świderski confirmed so but stressed that a lot will depend on the progress in León’s rehabilitation.

“I’d very much like León to take part in the World Championship, but the chance for that is very small. For Wilfredo, the staff’s door is open all the time. He has his own rehabilitation program, but he has been invited to Spała (the training camp of the Poland NT) and can join the team at any time. Head coach Grbić talked to Wilfredo, but now everything will depend on how the treatment goes,” said the head of the national federation.

At the moment, the gathering of the Poland National Team in preparations for the World Championship has 17 players – and, as it’s clear, there’s no León for now.
