A young Belarusian male volleyball player, Aliaksei Nasevich, has been in the notebooks of all the most important Polish clubs’ scouts for a long time.
Nasevich, a 19-year-old outside hitter for Trefl Gdańsk, has attracted the attention of Polish scouts. Four years ago, the outside hitter moved from Belarus to Poland as his family decided to live in the country where they have roots. Last year, Nasevich joined Trefl Lębork, the second team of Trefl Gdańsk, and later in the season helped the club’s junior squad in the Polish Championship. This season, he was called up to the senior squad of Trefl Gdańsk, the PlusLiga team that launched the careers of many now-famous Polish players.
Nasevich already has Polish citizenship. However, he still can’t represent the country’s national team. Nasevich plays on a Belarusian license and there’s a fight to ensure that the great talent can perform on Polish papers. When asked by WP SportoweFakty if he’d like to represent Poland, he answered, “Why not? If I can, I’d like to try it, of course. I’ve never thought about representing Belarus and I don’t really want to.“
