Even though they won one set in the hit of the Polish Women’s Volleyball Championship, the titleholders Grupa Azoty Chemik Police were pretty much helpless against Developres BELLA DOLINA Rzeszów today.
The results of 25-12 and 25-10 in two sets in favor of Developres were a slap in the face for Chemik in Round 11’s match of the 2022-23 TAURON Liga. Overall, the home side prevailed 3-1 in front of nearly 4,500 spectators in their Hala Podpromie but could’ve closed it earlier than in four sets. The confrontation in Rzeszów was the volleyball event of the day in Poland. The country’s vice-champions, as well as the current Cup and Super Cup holders, challenged the champions. True, Developres had one more day to prepare for the hit and didn’t have to travel before it. It all worked in their favor even though both teams had difficult matches in the CEV Champions League this week.
Georgian Ann Kalandadze highlighted Stéphane Antiga’s team with 23 points, in which she incorporated five aces. Serb Jovana Brakočević-Canzian tallied 13 points for Chemik, while Katarzyna Połeć set up four blocks. The victory today, the fifth in a row in TAURON Liga, pushed Developres to the top of the charts, but this position is provisional. As for Chemik, they remained third.
