
The Tauron League 2025/26 season kicked off with a shock as PGE Budowlani Łódź suffered a 2–3 home defeat to ITA Tools Stal Mielec. Despite rallying from two sets down, the Łódź side couldn’t finish the comeback, losing the tie-break 11–15.
Stal started strong, taking the first two sets (25–23, 25–17), Budowlani responded with determination, claiming the next two sets 25–20 behind standout performances from Sasa Planinsec and Paulina Damaske.
In the decisive fifth set, Stal showed composure under pressure, sealing victory. The visitors’ Rozalia Moszyńska, who scored 20 points (55% attack efficiency, 7 blocks, 1 ace), was named MVP of the match.
The game was marred by an injury to Magdalena Ociepa of Stal Mielec, who left the court in the fourth set after a painful fall.
